Airlines for America (A4A), the industry organisation representing the leading US airlines, has appointed Doug Mullen as its deputy general counsel. Mr Mullen previously served as associate general counsel, regulatory affairs for the association, serving as legal counsel to member airlines on a wide range of regulatory issues at the international, federal, state and local levels. Prior to joining A4A in 2007 (formerly known as the Air Transport Association of America), Mr Mullen served as an Attorney Advisor in the Office of the Chief Counsel, Regulations Division at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and as an Attorney Advisor in the Office of the General Counsel, Ethics Division at the US Department of Commerce.

WeWork has appointed Jared DeMatteis as its general counsel. Mr DeMatteis, who joined WeWork's legal team as deputy general counsel, corporate, over three years ago, succeeds Peter Greenspan. Mr DeMatteis will oversee a global legal team that spans 23 countries. Mr Greenspan will become global head of real estate and special counsel for the company. 

Valero Energy Corporation has appointed Jason Fraser, currently senior vice president and counsel of public policy, strategy and external communications, as executive vice president and general counsel.  Mr Fraser joined Valero in 1999, and was elected senior vice president and counsel in May 2018. He has served in executive leadership positions in Valero's Legal, Commercial, and International Operations groups and has led its public policy, government relations, and strategic planning efforts since 2016. Mr. Fraser also served in London as Valero's Vice President-Europe, overseeing Valero's European commercial businesses. Prior to his service in London, he served at Valero's San Antonio headquarters as Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of Valero Services. The move follows the retirement of previous general counsel Jay Browning. Mr Browning, who was GC since 2013, was responsible for all of Valero's legal activities as well as Valero's Health, Safety, and Environmental group. Before that, he managed Valero's corporate law department and served as Secretary of the company from 1997 through 2012.

US timber company CatchMark Timber Trust has appointed Lesley Solomon as general counsel and corporate secretary, a new position, joining the company from Alston & Bird where she was a longtime partner and had represented CatchMark. CatchMark President and CEO Jerry Barag said: 'As CatchMark expands and augments our nationwide operations, we will benefit from Lesley's broad industry knowledge and in particular her familiarity with our business. We welcome her into our fold after working closely and fruitfully with her over many years.' Ms Solomon joined Alston & Bird as an associate in 1998 and became a partner in 2006.
