World Rugby has appointed Alistair Maclean as general counsel. Mr Maclean will start his new role with the international federation on 3 January 2017. He joins World Rugby from ASB law, having previously served as group legal director and company secretary at the Football Association in England. In 11 years at the FA, Mr Maclean was responsible for managing all legal aspects of the multi-million pound media rights associated with the England team and other high-profile properties as well as overseeing a broad portfolio of litigious matters. He also held the position of board director for the National Football Centre, overseeing the delivery of one of the world's top sporting facilities (St George's Park), and was part of the senior management team that integrated the FA with its subsidiary, Wembley Stadium, in 2009. Mr Maclean replaces Susan Ahern, who left the organisation earlier this year.

WestJet Airlines has named Barbara Munroe as executive vice president, corporate services and general counsel, effective immediately. Ms Munroe joined WestJet in November 2011 as vice president, general counsel and was promoted to senior vice president, corporate services and general counsel in June 2015. Previously, she was the assistant general counsel at Imperial Oil Ltd. and the senior vice president, legal/IP and general counsel and corporate secretary for Smart Technologies. In her new role, she will be responsible for the airline's legal and compliance function as well as multiple corporate functions including corporate real estate, regulatory, government relations and fuel and environment.

Lindsay Beardsell will join newly-merged Ladbrokes Coral in January 2017 to head up its legal function. Ms Beardsell is currently general counsel at Supergroup, parent of fashion company Superdry which she joined in 2013.

Capita Asset Services has appointed Standard Bank Offshore Group head of legal Lionel Woodward as head of legal risk and compliance. He joins after six years at Standard Bank. Capita Asset Services is a division of outsourcing company Capita.

Seattle-based timberlands and wood products company Weyerhaeuser has appointed K&L Gates partner Kristy Harlan its senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Ms Harlan, who has been a partner at K&L Gates for nine years, steps into the shoes of Devin Stockfish who is moving into a mainstream business role - heading up Weyerhaeuser's operation in Washington and Oregon.  Ms Harlan will take up the GC and corporate secretary role on 1January but will join as vice president at the end of November.
