Around the House

A weekly round-up of moves around the globe.

General Motors

General Motors has divulged the name of the person who will replace Michael Millikin, its embattled GC who has been critiicised by Senators after the scandal over a fatal problem with a faulty ignition design in some vehicles. Mr Millikin had been due to stand down last year but agreed to stay on longer while a replacement was found. Craig Gliddon will now take over. He comes from chemical multinational LyondellBasel where he has been chief legal officer since 2009.

News Corp, a part of the Ruport Murdoch media empire, is to have its own GC, rather than being run - from a legal perspective - by Gerson Zweifach, head of 21st Century Fox, another part of the empire. David Pitofsky, formerly deputy GC at News Corp, is becoming GC. Prior to joining News Corp he worked as an assistant US attorney in the Eastern District of New York and he spent time at Goodwin Procter.

Engineering design firm AECOM has appointed the form managing partner of the Los Angeles office of O'Melveny & Myers, Carla Christofferson as GC and executive vice president. She will be in charge of all aspects of the legal function at AECOM including risk management. She will be based in LA.

In London, the Lloyd's of London underwriter Marketform has announced its replacement to Anne Durkin, the GC who left last September after 14 years. Alastair McKay, formerly UK GC at Aspen Re, is stepping into the role. Before working at Aspen Re, he was with Baker & McKenzie.

Innovari has appointed Robin Lunt as GC. She used to work at the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission where she was legal and policy adviser to commissioner Tony Clark. Innovari runs an interactive energy platform through which energy use can be delivered at maximum efficiency levels.
