KPMG's GC is retiring after 18 years Gordon Bell

KPMG's general counsel (GC) in the UK is retiring from the company in May. Vanessa Sharp has been at the company for 19 years, having joined from law firm Ince & Co. She is going on a sabbatical and will be considering her options when she returns. She is currently on the advisory board of Eversheds and has a number of non-executive roles. 

Tucker Development, a leading fund manager and developer of shopping centres and mixed-use properties, has recruited Aaron Tucker to serve as vice president and general counsel. In his new role, Tucker is responsible for business development, including sourcing capital and structuring deals, as well as all legal matters involving Tucker Development and its affiliates. Prior to joining Tucker Development, Tucker held positions with Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Paul Hastings LLP.

Healthcare lawyer Rob Gerberry has been named senior vice president and general counsel at Summa Health System. As general counsel, he will be responsible for the oversight, growth and development of several important areas of the organisation, including legal services, SummaCare legal services, corporate compliance, government relations, internal audit, physician services and governance. Mr Gerberry joined Summa in 2002 as an associate general counsel. 'The industry is evolving at a rapid pace, and having a general counsel who is an expert in all facets of healthcare law is critical,' said Dr Tom Malone, Summa Health System president and CEO. Prior to Summa, Gerberry practiced with the Cleveland law firms of Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP and McDonald Hopkins LLP.

US lending company imortgage,a division of loanDepot, has appointed its general counsel and chief compliance officer as EVP of operations. Darien Evans takes up the post, having joined the company in  April 2013. Her role was  advising executive and senior management on legal issues and handling risk assessment. Prior to joining the company, she served as general counsel and SVP at Caliber Funding, where she served on the executive management team and directed the firm's Legal/Compliance Department. She has also held associate and general legal counsel positions with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, First Magnus Financial Corporation and Quarles & Brady.

Barclays’ managing director of litigation and investigations Jonathan Peddie is leaving  seven months after the bank overhauled its legal department. As part of the changes, he was given responsibility for a new global financial crime unit which would take on all financial crime work, removing it from the litigation department.
