Among some notable moves is the AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah appointment of first African-American woman as general counsel.

Kamili Moreland has become the first African-American woman to become general counsel at AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah. Ms Moreland joined AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah in June 2011 and has over 21 years of law experience. In her role as svp, general counsel and corporate secretary, she is responsible for managing litigation and compliance issues, and advising AAA NCNU Board of Directors and Executive management on all matters of corporate governance.

Bayer has appointed Scott Partridge as the company’s next US general counsel. Mr Partridge, who took up his new position on October 1, has succeeded former general counsel Jan Heinemann, who is moving on to adidas. Mr Partridge is former vice president of global strategy for Monsanto, which is now part of Bayer, and reports to president of Bayer US Philip Blake. At the time of Bayer’s acquisition of Monsanto this year, Mr Partridge was a member of Monsanto’s leadership team, overseeing global competition policy, co-ordinating strategic advocacy on critical issues and leading the company’s dispute resolution activities.

Jan Heinemann was general counsel, head of law, patents and compliance for North America, based in New York, and at adidas he has been appointed general counsel, based in Herzogenaurach, Germany. In his new role, he will lead the strategic direction for all legal and compliance affairs at adidas, reporting to CEO Kasper Rorsted. Mr Heinemann succeeds Frank Dassler as general counsel, effective November 26. Mr Dassler left the company earlier this year when the role of general counsel was temporarily assumed by Paul Ehrlich, general counsel for global brands and the Americas.

A veteran of the Silicon Valley law scene, in-house lawyer Tiffani McCoy is moving into the crypto industry as general counsel of HBUS. Ms McCoy has worked in-house at some of Silicon Valley’s largest companies, in a variety of legal roles, including stints at Google and Yahoo.

Former in-house lawyer Judy Wong has left Ernst & Young to serve as general counsel for Tricor Group, a Hong Kong-based business advisory and services company. Ms Wong will focus on compliance issues and ‘be a key contact point for the various government bodies and jurisdictions Tricor partners with to bolster its compliance functions.’
