Amazon is hiring in-house counsel in Virginia, its second headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. No appointments yet, but watch this space! Meanwhile, Ikea’s general counsel has taken on a new role at New Law business. Nick Pritchett has left the company to join in-house services provider LegalEdge.

Gresham House, a specialist alternative asset manager, has appointed Samee Khan as general counsel. Mr Khan joins Gresham House from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he was responsible for establishing and then leading the legal and compliance function within its Private Equities Department. He has over 21 years of legal, commercial and financial experience covering private and public equity, M&A and corporate finance. Mr Khan will be based in the London office and will be primarily responsible for divisional transactions, new product creation and general business legal matters.

The National Football League’s deputy general counsel has transferred to Major League Soccer in a US football to soccer move. Anastasia Danias Schmidt, who led some of the NFL's most high-profile litigation during her nearly 20 years in-house there. Her new role is executive vice president and general counsel at MLS, effective May 13.

One of Minnesota's largest health care providers HealthPartners Inc has named Nancy Evert as their new vice president and general counsel. She replaces Barb Tretheway with an effective date of July 5. Ms Evert joined HealthPartners in 2005 and previously worked for Dorsey & Whitney.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is promoting David Phillips to senior vice president and general counsel, effective June 4. Mr Phillips is currently associate general counsel for the Americas at Goodyear. He will succeed David Bialosky, who is retiring. Mr Bialosky will remain with Goodyear as an officer until his retirement on September 30 to help with the transition, according to a company statement. Dan Young, currently senior legal counsel and assistant secretary, will become corporate secretary, a role currently held by Mr Bialosky, and associate general counsel.

New Senior Investment Group Inc has announced the appointment of Lori B Marino as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. In this new role, she will be responsible for the legal and compliance function, as well as the human resources function. Ms Marino brings 20 years of legal experience as a trusted legal and business advisor to boards of directors and multibillion-dollar global public companies. Most recently, she was vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary for ITT Inc.
