Appointments from Australia to America, with a number of European appointments, ring the changes around the house this week.

The Australian Financial Dispute Resolution Agency (AFCA) has hires a new general counsel. Anna Campbell, a former lawyer and manager for the Sydney-based Australian Securities Exchange, joins AFCA just a year after its launch as a replacement for three now-defunct external dispute resolution entities. Ms Campbell is the AFCA’s first ever general counsel.

Aircraft insurer Global Aerospace has appointed Michael Dobson as group general counsel to succeed Stephen Walsh who will be retiring from Global Aerospace on January 22, 2020. Mr Dobson will join the company on the same date. Mr Dobson began his legal career in South Africa before moving to England, where he re-qualified and worked at Clyde & Co, going on to hold a number of senior claims positions in the London insurance market. He joins Global Aerospace from Aon where he was a director in their professional services group.

Ioannis Giannakakis, co-founder and managing partner of the G+P law firm, has become group general counsel at The Andromeda Group. Mr Giannakakis held several senior in-house positions prior to establishing the G+P Law Firm, including regional general counsel and data protection officer Southern Europe for G4S from 2016 and 2018, as well as roles at Novartis in Greece, Unilever, Babis Vovos International Construction and ING Greece.

Adam Brzezinski has been promoted to assistant general counsel, global employment and European privacy, with MoneyGram International in Warsaw. Mr Brzezinski has been with MoneyGram since December 2014, where he joined as legal counsel and was subsequently promoted to senior legal counsel. Before joining the financial technology company he was in private practice with Mrowiec Fialek and Partners, Wardynski & Partners, Allen & Overy, and Dentons.

Warner Bros Television has expended the role of their general counsel with the appointment Jody Zucker, who has been promoted to the newly created role of executive vice president of legal affairs. Mr Zucker will oversee the legal affairs across all of the studio’s production divisions and also the legal affairs of Alloy Publishing, Stage 13 and Blue Ribbon Content. He will report to the company’s general counsel, John Rogovin, and most recently served as the Warner Bros. Television’s senior vice president and general counsel. He joined the company in 2000 as vice president of legal affairs and also worked as deputy general counsel. Mr Zucker joined from Paramount Network Television.

Wade Sheek, who most recently served as general counsel and secretary at Republic Airways Holdings, has joined equipment rental supplier Herc Holdings as senior vice president, chief legal officer (CLO) and corporate secretary. Prior to Republic Airways Holdings, Mr Sheek was deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at Allegion with responsibility for SEC matters, corporate governance, M&A and strategic initiatives. In a regulatory filing in July, Herc Holdings stated that Maryann Waryjas, senior vice president, CLO and secretary, would be retiring from the company after working through a transition period from October until March 31, 2020, during which time she will be special counsel and adviser to the CEO.

General counsel Michael McKenna, a thirty-year veteran, is retiring National Credit Union Administration. Mr McKenna, who was appointed general counsel in 2011, joined the agency in 1989 as an attorney and served as senior policy adviser for two administration board members in 2001 and 2002. The NCUA, based in Alexandria, Virginia, is now searching for a new general counsel.

Mitsubishi Motors North America has hired a new general counsel. The car firm, which is in the midst of a headquarters move, has appointed their former in-house lawyer for Nissan North America and USA Truck, Katherine Knight, to the post. She will be based in the company’s new headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee takes up the position of executive vice president and general counsel.
