Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has chosen former LinkedIn general counsel Erika Rottenberg as its legal chief. The organization was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, with a mission Advance human potential and promote equality in areas such as health, education, scientific research, and energy. Ms. Rottenberg is a lawyer with extensive experience navigating Silicon Valley. A statement on Facebook, reads “Erika brings a breadth and depth of legal, policy, and privacy experience from her more than two decades working with leading technology companies, including LinkedIn, where she was also its first full-time general counsel.”

USCF, a provider of exchange-traded product (ETP) and exchange-traded fund (ETF) innovation, has promoted Daphne G. Frydman to general counsel, responsible for the company's legal and regulatory matters globally. "Daphne has been a trusted advisor and exceptional counsel over the past two years," said John Love, President and CEO of USCF.  "She has also been a part of the extended USCF family going all the way back to the firm's roots.  Her expertise will continue to be integral to our ongoing success." Ms. Frydman joined USCF in 2016 as deputy general counsel. She was previously a partner at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP, where she advised asset managers, insurance companies, private and public funds.

Mexico’s Vitol had hired a new head of legal. The Mexican arm of energy and commodities company Vitol Group has hired Yolanda Villegas as its new head of legal, regulatory and compliance affairs.

Boyd Johnson III, a former No. 2 at the US attorney’s office in Manhattan, has left his role as co-chairman of investigations and criminal litigation at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr in order to become general counsel at Soros Fund Management LLC, a private investment firm controlled by billionaire businessman and philanthropist George Soros.

Former MetLife in-house counsel Ricardo Anzaldua is take the general counsel post at Freddie Mac, the US federal home loan mortgage company. Following a transition period, Mr. Anzaldua will take over the top legal post at Freddie Mac.

Australia Wealth management firm AMP has fired general counsel Brian Salter for his role in an alleged cover-up. AMP terminated Mr. Salter amid an inquiry into his alleged efforts to cover up company misconduct, though Mr. Salter has issued a statement denying any wrongdoing.
