Ice hockey franchise Pittsburgh Penguins has named as its new general counsel Kevin Acklin. He is currently the chief legal officer for Peoples Natural Gas Company, and will take on the role of the team’s senior vice president and general counsel on Nov. 1.

Xerox has appointed Louie Pastor as executive vice president and general counsel, reporting to vice chair and ceo John Visentin and serving as a member of the company’s executive committee. He will oversee all of Xerox’s legal affairs, including legal aspects of the firm’s various strategic initiatives, as well as leading the company’s corporate security, government-related and public policy activities on domestic and international affairs. Mr Pastor joins Xerox from Icahn Enterprises, where he was deputy general counsel. He replaces Sarah McConnell.

Media company Tegna has promoted associate general counsel and secretary Akin Harrison to senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. In his new position, Mr Harrison will lead Tegna’s legal department and serve as a member of the company’s leadership team following the retirement of Todd Mayman, executive vice president and chief legal and administrative officer. Mr Mayman plans to retire early next year.

Global financial services company Hilco has appointed Sarah Baker as vice president and assistant general counsel. Ms Baker worked as a corporate restructuring attorney at Skadden and has been recognized by the National LGBT Bar Association as one of its ‘40 Under 40.’

Investment Firm Vaquero Capital has appointed Danny Allen general counsel and vice president of operations. Mr Allen was previously the chief operation officer and general counsel at Carousel360, and joined Vaquero Capital, based in San Francisco, at the end of last month. He will report directly to managing partner David Grove.

INSYS Therapeutics, specilaising in the development, manufacture and commercialisation of pharmaceutical cannabinoids and spray technology, has appointed Mark Nance to its senior management team as chief legal officer and general counsel. Mr Nance joins INSYS with nearly 20 years in general counsel roles at both public and private companies in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and technology sectors. He was recently the general counsel for global pharmaceutical firm Mylan. Franc Del Fosse, the company's current general counsel, will transition to a new position as senior vice president of corporate affairs and will work closely with Mr Nance to ensure a seamless transition.

Lucidchart has boosted its executive team by appointing corporate governance and transactional lawyer Cara Frisbie as vice president and general counsel. The company works on driving innovation and collaboration through visual communication. Ms Frisbie will oversee all legal matters. Prior to joining Lucidchart, she represented Silicon Valley venture investors and startups from inception to exit at Am Law 100 firms.
