Hourly rates no longer a must for litigation
Corporate counsel are seeing a shift in thinking from law firms on how they charge for litigation as the hourly rate declines in popularity across the board.

According to the head of litigation at United Technologies, Steven Greenspan, alternative fees for litigation are becoming common because lawyers are more comfortable with the protocol. He said: ‘[In-house counsel] should be able to price a case in most circumstances and negotiate for carve-outs with outside counsel in the event that something unexpected happens.’
