In-house lawyers failed GM, says GC

The general counsel of GM has made a statement to a Senate subcommittee on the mistakes made by his legal department over the ignition-switch recall.

Lawyers at General Motors failed the company in handling an ignition-switch defect which saw the business recall almost 26 million cars in the US this year following at least 13 deaths in car crashes. Michael Millikin, GM's general counsel, said that the lawyers made mistakes in written testimony which will be delivered to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation subcommittee tomorrow. According to Businessweek, r Millikin said: 'We had lawyers at GM who didn't do their jobs; didn't do what was expected of them. Those lawyers are no longer with the company.' Source: Businessweek
