A programme designed to promote gender equality in the corporate legal environment has been launched to identify women in the US legal profession ready for general counsel roles in the next three years.

The programme named R-3 100 was set up by InsideCounsel Magazine to raise awareness of female presence in the in-house talent pool for GCs and recruiters searching for new appointments.

Professional services collaboration

Professional services firm Deloitte, various executive search professionals and general counsel have all collaborated with InsideCounsel to compile the list, separating it into the five most prominent legal areas: governance and securities, litigation, intellectual property, compliance and M&A/transactions.The lawyers on the list all report directly to the general counsel and have been evaluated according to skills believed paramount to taking on the role of GC, such as business acumen, leadership skills and risk evaluation.
