Historic attitudes favouring globalisation are fundamentally changing....
Debevoise & Plimpton has recruited a former JPMorgan Chase lawyer for its litigation department. Matthew Biben who was general counsel of Consumer & Community Banking at JPMorgan Chase, has joined the New York office as a partner in the White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group and the Banking and Consumer Finance practices.
Legal and compliance
At JPMorgan, Mr. Biben oversaw a wide array of legal and compliance issues in the mortgage, credit card, student loan and auto loan businesses and dealt routinely with federal and state regulators. Prior to joining JPM, he was the Deputy General Counsel of The Bank of New York Mellon, where he worked in roles with increasing responsibility for six years. Mr Biben’s enforcement work has been wide-ranging, from matters related to mortgages and other consumer products and securitisation claims, to data privacy breach investigations, to anti-money laundering and False Claims Act work.
