Twitter lawyer bags top White House role

The Obama administration has snapped up Twitter lawyer Nicole Wong to advise on internet and privacy policies, White House officials have confirmed.

Reuters reports that Ms Wong will work with federal chief technology officer Todd Park, and will join the White House as the government turns its attention and resources to fighting hackers.
Ms Wong is joining as deputy US chief technology officer and will work with Mr Park on internet, privacy and technology issues, according to White House spokesman Rick Weiss.
Ms Wong - who was legal director at Twitter – has previously testified before Congress about her concerns on internet censorship.
She was also previously Google’s vice-president and deputy general counsel.
