The US lawyer created the legal technology audit for external advisors. Unimpressed with the results, he linked up with a university to create the Legal Tech Audit (LTA). Mr Casey is working with Andrew Perlman at Suffolk University's Law School's Institute on Law Practice Technology and Innovation to analyse how well basic technology is used by private practice lawyers. Tasks such as word processing and spreadsheets are tested. One question assesses how lawyers finalise a redlined investors' rights agreement, checking their word processing skills whilst another looks at how lawyers analyse data on dividend payments to investors.
