Adviser to Cisco launches as fixed fee boutique

Newly-launched Toronto law firm Conduit Law, which includes Cisco Systems as one of its first clients, is offering a no-frills low cost service based around fixed fees and minimal overheads.

Conduit Law has some 12 lawyers on its staff and about twice that number of clients. It specialises in recurring legal issues which can be commoditised and also in embedding its lawyers as part-time in-house lawyers with clients. Founder and president Peter Carayiannis said: ‘Sometimes I like to say it’s like we put a lawyer through a wind tunnel. And whatever falls off in the wind tunnel, we’ve determined is just not necessary.’ 

Remaking legal business
