Inspired by the model of Riverview Law in the UK, the six office firm RMB introduced the new approach on all nine of its service areas on 1 July. This means it will offer fixed fees in areas from property to local government, estate planning to criminal law and compensation law to business transactions.

Work fast and well

Managing partner Craig Osborne said: ‘I think that’s bringing the client into your workspace, inviting them to be genuinely part of the process of picking a fee. If a client says they want it done for a certain amount and we can’t do it, we’ll just have to say we can’t do it and they’re entitled to go wherever they want.’ He added: ‘If we work fast and well, we will make money; if we do not, we won’t.’ Source: Lawyers Weekly
