Baker & McKenzie to open Brisbane office

Baker & McKenzie is understood to have recruited a Clayton Utz partner and one from Allens with the aim of opening a Brisbane office in June or July.

Litigation and the energy/resources fields will be two major prongs of the new practice which has yet to be rubber-stamped as a proposal by the firm’s existing Australian partners. Energy and resources Clutz partner Darren Fooks has just resigned from his firm where he worked in the Brisbane office in order to join Baker & McKenzie.
