The trouble arose when, as an associate at another New York law firm, she acted as jury foreman on a negligence case. The losing lawyer, Frank Panetta, emailed her four years later using the subject heading 'ALL THESE YEARS LATER I WILL NEVER FORGET LAUREN THE LIAR'. In his email, he wrote: 'I will never forget you: the bloated Jury [Foreman] that I couldn’t get rid of and that misled and hijacked my jury. You lied, said you had no involvement in defense—no biases. It was all bullshit. …' After other similar comments, Mr Panetta signed off 'Good Luck in Hell'. 

Personal stress

A New York appeals court ordered the censure of Mr Panetta, taking into account the regret he expressed, testimonials, the stress he had undergone and the fact that the behaviour was not repeated with other people or cases. Source: ABA
