Clifford Chance appoints new Australian leadership

Clifford Chance has appointed new leadership in Australia and created a new country managing partner position overseeing the firm's 70 lawyers based in Sydney and Perth, effective from 1 May.

Sydney banking and finance partner Richard Gordon is to take up will the country leadership role, also replacing disputes partner Diana Chang who has been Sydney managing partner since the start of 2016. She will remain a partner at the firm and return to full-time fee earning work. At the same time, Perth energy partner Paul Lingard has been appointed as head of that office replacing Perth M&A partner Paul Vinci, who is set to join Australian firm Johnson Winter & Slattery.

Mr Gordon has been with the firm since 2015 joining from Allens where he spent nearly 17 years. He focuses on financing deals related to mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure projects and restructurings. Mr Lingard joined CC as a partner in 2014 from King & Wood Mallesons, where he worked for 12 years. His work has seen him represent large mining and energy companies on transactions, projects, regulatory and operational matters.
