Controversy as Washington lawyer is appointed as ebola czar

President Barak Obama's appointment of a lawyer, Washington DC-based Ron Klain - rather than a medic has provoked controversy in the US.

Mr Klain has served as chief of staff to two vice presidents, Al Gore and Joe Biden. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican, said: ‘Mr. Klain is not a doctor, he's not a health care professional. He doesn't have background in these issues. We don't need a White House political operative, which is what Mr. Klain has been.’
