Cuatrecasas enters association with Colombian firm

Iberian firm Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira has entered into an association with Colombian firm Posse Herrera Ruiz.

The firms have created a new Bogotá-headquartered company called Posse Herrera Ruiz & Cuatrecasas, through which they will coordinate services for mutual clients in Iberia and Colombia. The alliance will focus on corporate M&A work, banking and finance, international arbitration, tax, infrastructure, and energy and natural resources.

Cuatrecasas corporate partner Alfonso Reina and banking and finance senior associate Carlos Lasarte will relocate indefinitely to Bogotá to work at the new company.

Independent

According to a statement from Cuatrecasas, ‘both firms will maintain their independence and alliance policies, and rule out the possibility of merging their firms and brands.’

Global expansion

The firm has had a base in São Paulo since 2000 and earlier this year opened an office in Mexico City. Outside of Latin America, it opened an office in Beijing earlier this year and has continued to invest in its office space and referral alliance with France’s Gide Loyrette Nouel, Italy’s Chiomentia Studio Legale and Germany’s Gleiss Lutz.
