Western Uttar Pradesh is high on the list of courts losing the most days to strike action, as it is affected by strikes on unofficial holidays, all Saturdays and for two weeks last month.

Rarest of rare cases

The Rajasthan high court’s Jaipur bench has been hit by strikes of its lawyers every Friday for the last 30 years. In Meerut, every Saturday has been lost to lawyers’ strikes for the last 15 years. The Supreme Court allows lawyers to strike for a day in the 'rarest of rare cases where the dignity, integrity and independence of the Bar and/or Bench is at stake', a law which has been interpreted to mean 'a variety of things', according to Legally India. Source: Legally India
