Dentons partners with funding firm for legal tech push

Dentons' legal tech venture development platform Nextlaw Labs has partnered with funding firm Seedcamp to co-sponsor a global call to early stage legal tech startups.

Selected startups will receive training, mentorship and investment from both Nextlaw Labs, a platform focused on developing new technologies and processes to transform the practice of law, and London-based Seedcamp, a pre-seed and seed stage investor. It has invested in over 200 companies to date, including startups such as Transferwise, Property Partner and legal tech company Apperio.

Europe a ‘critical market’

‘We are committed to expanding our activity in Europe and see the region as a critical market for Nextlaw Labs and the legal tech industry,’ commented John Fernandez, global chair of Nextlaw Labs.

Time to innovate

Seedcamp’s founding partner Reshma Sohoni believes the time is right for innovation and disruption in the legal profession: ‘The legal market is primed for fresh, forward-thinking startups to come in and shake up tradition.’

Applications for startups wishing to apply are now open.
