DLA Piper combines with IP boutique in Canada

Interest in the Canadian legal market from global heavyweights continues as DLA Piper announces it has combined with IP boutique Dimock Stratton.

In total, 16 lawyers from Dimock Stratton will join DLA Piper’s Toronto office, with the deal effective from 1 November.

One in five patent trials

The firm was founded in 1994 by Ron Dimock and Bruce Stratton and specialises in IP litigation and the acquisition, licensing and portfolio management of patents, trademarks and copyrights, as well as trade secret protection. According to a statement from DLA Piper, the firm has represented brands including BMW, Cisco Systems and A&W Food Services, and its lawyers have been involved in one out of every five patent trials in Canada in the last 25 years.
