DLA set for April merger with Davis in Canada

DLA Piper and the 260-lawyer firm Davis are said to have voted in the last two weeks to approve a merger between them which is due to be implemented through a Swiss verein structure sometime next month.

The 120-partner Davis has six offices in Canada and one in Tokyo. DLA has been prospecting for a partner in Canada for three years and had hoped to take on some 70 Heenan Blaikie partners when that firm collapsed in 2014. However, the talks fell through.
