The UK-listed Kazakhstan-focused company said the suspension in Mozambique – where ENRC has coal assets - is pending the outcome of an internal investigation, reports the Financial Times.
Ina statement, ENRC said: ‘ENRC takes all whistleblowing allegations seriously and it is of paramount importance that they are thoroughly investigated. ENRC remains committed to a full and transparent investigation of its procedures and conduct.’

Internal inquiry

The move comes after ENRC corporate investigator Alex Gaft left ENRC this month while chief commercial officer Jim Cochrane also departed.
Meanwhile, ENRC has parted ways with Philadelphia law firm Dechert, bringing further disorder to the company which has been in talks with the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) since 2011 over complications arising from its Kazakh operations, as well as an internal inquiry into the company’s movements in Africa.
