GCs get set to Brexit

As two in three law departments prepare for an increased workload in the run-up to Brexit, this year's GC Futures Summit hones in on the preparations being undertaken by different sectors.

The workload of legal departments is set to increase in the run-up to Brexit, two in three general counsel report in research for this year's GC Futures Summit. The event, which will include a plenary session on the challenges involved for companies doing business in Britain, will feature leading executives from four sectors. Credit Suisse international chair Noreen Doyle, who is also chair of the British Banking Association, will give her views on how the banking industry is coping with the proposed changes.

Change management

The event will also focus on how general counsel manage and change their operations as well as expanding their remit and joining boards. John Collins, who oversees legal and risk at Santander, will discuss leadership and innovation. Other speakers include Helen Mahy CBE, who is a non-executive director at SSE; Liz Kelly, company secretary, St James's Place; Janice More, GC, LSEW; Max Hubner, director, Corporate and Tax, PGGM; Mollie Stoker, GC, Lucozade Ribena Suntory; Selena Grosso, GC, Mangiarotti and Nick Deeming, advisor to Blueprint for Better Business (and former in-house counsel).
