Mr Pollack is considered to be a rising star in the private equity space and according to his biography has clients including Liberty Hall Capital Partners, Veritas, Cerberus, Truven Holding Corp and Albertsons.

It can be very difficult for laterals to join Gibson Dunn, with partner Randy Mastro confirming to Bloomberg BNA that its hiring partners can review the law school transcript of an incoming hire even if they’ve practiced for as many as 20 years.

Gibson Dunn said in a statement that Mr Pollack ‘will be an important contribution to our strong private equity and M&A capabilities in the US and around the world.’

He is will take up his new role on 1 September.
