Mega deals and greater inflows of foreign capital are expected to be features of a strong M&A market in Australia in 2016, according to an analysis by Herbert Smith Freehills.

According to Herbert Smith partners Tony Damian and Rodd Levy, who produced an annual review and analysis of the sector, several factors combine to make Australia the stage for a strong level of M&A activity next year. Thsee include the relatively low level of the Australian dollar, the current political scene under prime minister Malcolm Turnbull and the increasing attractiveness of the country to foreign investors through initiatives such as the Trans Pacific Partnership.
