HSF promotes 20 to partner in geographically balanced round

After two years of making the majority of its partner promotions in the Asia-Pacific region, Herbert Smith Freehills has had a more balanced round this year, making up ten lawyers in the UK and EMEA, and ten in Asia-Pacific.

Last year the firm promoted 21 lawyers, with a majority based in Asia-Pacific as the firm invested heavily in Tokyo.

London received the highest number of promotions for a single location this year, with seven new partners added in the City. The bulk of these were in the corporate department.

Six of this year's promotions are women, down from nine last year. The firm has made a public commitment to have a 25 per cent female partnership by May 2017 and 30 per cent by May 2019.

The promotions take effect on 1 May 2016.
