IBA issues human rights guidance to law firms

The International Bar Association (IBA) has issued guidance to law firms and other advisers to businesses on human rights.

In its introduction, the IBA says: ‘There are few areas of legal practice for which the Guiding Principles – and the international human right standards they reference – are not potentially relevant.’ The principles can apply in a wide range of issues - affecting land purchases, for example, where governments have ‘grabbed’ land without consultation.
