A programme of government privatisations is fuelling a boom in infrastructure work and M&A activity in New South Wales - a boom which could last a decade, according to Norton Rose Fulbright.

Privatisations include three ports and some A$20 billion of 'poles and wires' projects, according to Chris Redden of the banking and finance team in Norton Rose's Sydney office. He was speaking of an 'infrastructure boom' in New South Wales that is feeding through to M&A specialists, banking and finance teams and other specialist areas. Mr Redden said: 'Lawyers will be very busy, for a long period of time. I think the work is across disciplines within law. And it's not just private practice – it's government and in-house lawyers too.' Source: Lawyers Weekly
