Insolvency lawyers wanted as economy still struggles

Australian insolvency and employment law specialists are forecast to be in hot demand as the jurisdiction continues to feel the impacts of the global economic slowdown, recruitment researchers forecast this week.

Global slowdown takes its toll on Oz

The Australian Legal Business web site reports on research from recruitment agency Hays, which points to insolvency and debt recovery lawyers being highly sought during the next year, along with ‘workplace relations’ lawyers, as a result of increased disputes and evolving legislation.

Paralegals

Changes to the structure of traditional law firms are also flagged in the report, with the recruiters predicting that career paralegals are in high demand, as are senior lawyers on temporary contracts.
Other practice areas forecast to show signs of life in Australia are construction and property, especially in the state of Queensland, according to the web site, where there is a current rash of infrastructure projects underway. That region is also a good spot for insurance lawyers, as the state recovers from a range of recent natural disasters.
