The findings against the high profile lawyer arose after complaints by a client that Mr Kean knowingly misled him into believing a defence to a debt had been submitted to a District Court. The client was understandably shocked to receive a judgement in the post and made several complaints to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) about Mr Kean. The judge said that there was 'sufficient evidence' before the SDT to 'comprehensively demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that Mr Kean in effect tried to mislead his own client in a misguided attempt to cover up whas initially was an omission.'  The court did not impose a fine of 20,000 euros which had been recommended by the SDT - the judge said the finding of misconduct was a harsh enough penalty.
