Like several other US-based practices, Latham has seen robust income growth over the last year. DLA Piper, by contrast, has been concentrating on becoming more profitable. DLA raised revenue per lawyer, for example, by seven per cent to $670,000 over 2014/15. It also cut its lawyer headcount by nearly 7%, taking numbers down to 3,702.

DLA's annual results have only just been published (while Latham's came out in February). DLA says that its increaseed profitability was helped by a strong year in finance and M&A. Source: Legal Business
