Legal apprenticeship scheme approved

Mayer Brown, Eversheds and Simmons & Simmons are among the firms which have helped the UK develop a scheme to allow paralegals and others to become solicitors.

The scheme, developed as the Trailblazers Apprenticeship in Law initiative, was brought on by a committee of people drawn from across the law and chaired by Gun Judge of Addleshaws HR. The UK government has now approved the outline scheme through which the apprentices could qualify over a period of five or six years. The scheme can now move on to more detailed consultation regarding the curriculum and assessment. Source: Legal Week
