Macfarlanes launches in Brussels with KWM hires

The single-partner Brussels outpost will be the City firm's only office outside of London.

Macfarlanes is opening its doors in Brussels after acquiring a trio of competition partners from King & Wood Mallesons late last year. Partners Christophe Humpe, Tom Usher and Cameron Firth all joined Macfarlanes in December last year alongside former KWM senior partner Stephen Kon, who joined the firm as a consultant. Mr Humpe is now set to be the firm’s only Brussels-based partner, while his colleagues Mr Usher and Mr Firth will continue to work out of the firm’s London headquarters. The Brussels office will become Macfarlane’s only base outside of London, following the closure of the firm’s Johannesburg office in October last year.
