Melbourne: new firm launches

Lawyers Weekly reports that Henry Kalus and Jonathan Kenny, formerly principals of Kalus Kenny, joined forces with former managing principal of M+K Lawyers Sven Burchartz to create Kalus Kenny Intelex (KKI).

'High-quality lawyers'

Mr Burchartz had spent 18 months sitting on the Kalus Kenny board after leaving his position as managing partner at M+K, and also opened his own law advisory firm, Burchartz Intelex.
However Mr Kalus said that the three had such similar ideas they decided to bring their firms together.
The integrated firm now has 35 staff, including 16 lawyers and paralegal staff.
Mr Kalus said: We’ve always wanted to be able to get the big-ticket work and that means you have to be ready for it and that means you might have to have more staff than you might absolutely need at any point in time... so we will be adding a few more high-quality lawyers to the practice.’
Mr Kalus added that he doesn’t see the firm expanding outside of Melbourne.
