Latvian outfits Klavins Ellex and GLIMSTEDT & Partners have merged to create the nation's largest law firm.

Riga, Latvia

Operating under the name Klavins Ellex, the new firm will have 278 lawyers across offices in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, making it a heavyweight in the Baltic legal market and the largest law firm in Latvia, with 47 lawyers and 13 support staff to be based in the country. The firm will offer wide-ranging advice, with M&A, banking and finance, dispute resolution, competition, real estate, labour, tax and IP all counting among the firm’s areas of expertise. Klavins Ellex managing partner Filips Klavins commented: ‘The main objective of the merger is to provide additional benefits to our clients. They are: the combined expertise of two strong legal teams, which complement each other and will now be available as a single team; also a higher capacity for effectively managing large-scale and sophisticated processes. Consolidation of law firms is one of the key trends in our industry on a global scale.’
