Questions hover over CC's independent bank report

A BBC programme will tonight examine controversial treatment of indebted customers by UK bank RBS and could also look at the role of Clifford Chance which found no evidence of wrong-doing when it was commissioned to investigate.

RBS is under the spotlight Tungpato

The bank called Clifford Chance in to investigate and write an independent report on the activities of the bank's Global Restructuring Group. BBC Radio 4 has been highlighting, ahead of the 'Panorama' television programme that Clifford Chance was on the panel of law firms used by RBS. There may also be questions raised about one of the partners on the Clifford Chance team who, the BBC claims, had worked for the bank in the past.

Deliberate

The bank was accused of deliberately pushing businesses into bankruptcy in order to gain advantage, including access to the assets of the businesses at a reduced price. The programme, called 'Did the bank wreck my business?',  will be shown on BBC One at 20.30 UK time on Monday, 24 November. Source: BBC
