Republicans prepare for elections with 1,000 lawyers

The US political parties are preparing large teams of lawyers to be ready for recounts and other problems when the mid-term elections take place on 4 November.

One Republican group has estimated that it will have trained 1,000 lawyers by that date - including their campaign lawyers and their external legal advisers. Edward B Foley, director of election law at Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University, said: ‘There's no perfect election, there just can't be. It's too big of a human system. To the extent that anything gets a little messy, that's where the lawyers come in.’ Source: Bloomberg
