Mohammed El-Sheikh – the former managing partner of affiliated Riyadh practice of Latham & Watkins – takes one of the 25 executive director slots with the Washington DC-based developing country lender, according to a report on the web site of The Brief magazine. Mr El-Sheikh will represent Saudi Arabia on the banks board of directors.

Adviser and diplomat

The report cites the global managing partner of the Los Angeles-based firm, Robert Dell, as describing the appointment as ‘a major milestone in an illustrious career’. He continued to say that Mr El-Sheikh’s ‘strong intellect, problem-solving talents and integrity stand him in good stead to serve as an adviser and diplomat’.
The firm announced that the mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and project finance specialist would be replaced as office managing partner in the Saudi capital by finance partner Salman Al-Sudairi.
