Schneiderman launches probe for New York voters

New York Attorney General Eric Scheiderman has launched an official probe as thousands of New York voters claim they were unable to cast ballots in Tuesday's state primary after their party affiliations were mysteriously switched.

Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton won big in New York on Tuesday, with both frontrunners solidifying their leads. However, the ballot day was marred by thousands of disgruntled would-be voters who discovered, only too late, that they would be excluded from voting because they were no longer affiliated with either the Democratic or Republican party.

Foul play?

Those denied their day at the ballot box are now alleging impropriety, with many claiming that they were wrongfully removed from the state electoral role or that their party status was switched on voting lists without their knowledge or consent.

Official probe

Attorney General Schneiderman is now launching an official probe into the New York City Board of Elections, which is responsible for maintaining the voter lists. 'I am deeply troubled by the volume and consistency of voting irregularities,' he said. 'If any New Yorker was illegally prevented from voting, I will do everything in my power to make their vote count and ensure that it never happens again.'
