Slaughter and May has come a clear first in a stock market listing published in The Lawyer.

The firm has 120 clients as of February 2014, compared to 93 for second-placed  Pinsent Masons and 92 for third-placed Herbert Smith Freehills. Carey Olsen and Norton Rise Fulbright, on 87 each, tie for equal fourth. Linklaters is sixth, Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer is ninth and Allen & Overy is 11th.  Among FTSE 100 clients, the top firms are Slaughters (30), Linklaters (29), Freshfields (25) and Allen & Overy (21).
