Squire Patton Boggs announces California acquisition

Squire Patton Boggs has announced that the 1,500-attorney firm is merging with a 50-lawyer boutique headquartered in San Francisco.

Although Carroll Burdick & McDonough is US-based, the firm has an international practice with a strong German tilt. Many of the firm’s lawyers, who between them speak 16 languages, represent clients in disputes and regulatory matters that stem from selling products on a global basis.

‘In an increasingly regulated and inter-dependent global economy, our clients rely upon us now more than ever for compliance solutions across virtually all industries,’ said global chair Mark Ruehlmann in a Squire Patton Boggs news release. ‘With this combination, and the new relationships that come with it, we have even greater opportunities to better serve our clients with strong and developing global businesses.’

The firms expect to complete the merger next month.
