Substandard service admitted by 19pc of law firms

Nearly a fifth of UK law firms have confessed to providing a substandard service at some stage in the last year.

The finding is revealed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as part of its work on training. Giving extra training is being promoted as a way to prevent such lapses in standards. The research was based on a survey of 750 practices. Of the 19 per cent accepting failures, nearly two thirds admitted to four or fewer such incidents. However, some 13 per cent of them had recorded at least 10 failures. Source: Legal Futures
