Suspended Gibson Dunn partner leaves firm and plans own Dubai venture

Peter Gray, the partner who was held to have deliberately misled the High Court in the UK, appears to have left the firm and is considering setting up his own practice, according to The Lawyer.

Peter Gray is said to be setting up a new practice in Dubai S-F

Mr Gray was suspended by Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in March. The suspension followed a hearing in the High Court in which the judge found that he had deliberately misled the court. Following his presentation of misleading evidence to the court, the court had frozen the assets of Abdourahman Boreh as it appeared - incorrectly - that he might have been involved in a terrorist act. Mr Boreh was also sentenced, in absentia, to 15 years in prison in Djibouti.

Facebook

Gibson Dunn has confirmed that he is no longer employed at the firm. A spokesman said: 'As a law firm, we place the highest value on ethical conduct, including honesty, integrity and candor. Following his suspension by the firm, Peter Gray is no longer employed at Gibson Dunn.' Meanwhile, Mr Gray is thought to have used Facebook to explain his departure and plans to start a new venture.

Court of Appeal

Mr Gray appealed to the High Court for leave to appeal but was refused. He is now appealing for the leave to appeal directly to the Court of Appeal. Mr Gray has also been accused separately, in a private prosecution, brought by the former head of Leeds United Football Club, David Haigh. Source: The Lawyer
