Too many lawyers in Florida

About half of lawyers responding to a Florida Bar survey said that the most serious problem facing the profession was a surfeit of lawyers.

Five new law firms have opened in Florida since 2000, and lawyer numbers have grown 58 per cent to 96,511. Angela Wright, a criminal defence lawyer in Tampa, said: ‘Now it seems you work harder to make half of what you did in 1998. The economy is a reason but also the fact there are a whole lot more attorneys.’ Source: ABA
