Widow charged with murder of defence lawyer at end of honeymoon

The 42-year old widow of a 51-year old UK criminal lawyer, David Edwards from Chorley in Lancashire, has appeared in court and charged with his murder but she did not enter a plea.

The couple had just returned from a honeymoon in Las Vegas when Mr Edwards was found dead, with a single stab wound, at their home on Sunday. Sharon Edwards looked 'dishevelled' as she made her appearance at Preston Magistrates' Court, according to the Lancashire Evening Post. She confirmed her name, age and address but did not enter a plea.

Bail application

She did say, however 'David's not dead' when told by the deputy district judge that the case would be heard at the Crown Court. Mrs Edwards has been remanded in custody but her lawyer has said that he will be appealing for bail today. Difficulties in the couple's relationship were known to their neighbours.
